Sunday we had 4 homies pull up to church so that's awesome! We ate lunch with the ward. The member's are so sick. Always fun to talk to. We then did planning and studying then went out finding for 1 hour and 15 minutes and we had more sucess then the many hours on Saturday and Friday haha. So that's funny. Finding is always fun. Then we had some meetings and stuff to close out the day。

Today we are going to explore probably.  We want to go to a cave and waterfall so that should be fun! Anyways love you guys so much!

I'll share a poem my mom sent me awhile ago.

There once was a man who was asleep one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light and the Savior appeared to him.

The Lord told him He had a work for him to do, and showed him a large rock explaining that he was to push against the rock with all his might. This the man did, and for many days he toiled from sunup to sundown; his shoulder set squarely against the cold massive surface of the rock, pushing with all his might. Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling his whole day had been spent in vain.

Seeing that the man showed signs of discouragement, Satan decided to enter the picture – placing thoughts in the man’s mind, such as “Why kill yourself over this?, you’re never going to move it!” or “Boy, you’ve been at it a long time and you haven’t even scratched the surface!” etc. giving the man the impression the task was impossible and the man was an unworthy servant because he wasn’t moving the massive stone.

These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man and he started to ease up in his efforts. “Why kill myself?” he thought. “I’ll just put in my time putting forth just the minimum of effort and that will be good enough.” And this he did or at least planned on doing until, one day, he decided to take his troubles to the Lord.

“Lord,” he said, “I have labored hard and long in Your service, putting forth all my strength to do that which You have asked of me. Yet after all this time, I have not even budged that rock even half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?”

To this the Lord responded compassionately, “My friend, when long ago I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you to push against the rock with all your strength and that you have done. But never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. At least not by yourself. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me, your strength spent, thinking that you have failed, ready to quit. But is this really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled; your back sinewed and brown. Your hands are calloused from constant pressure and your legs have become massive and hard. Through opposition you have grown much and your ability now far surpasses that which you used to have. Yet still, you haven’t succeeded in moving the rock; and you come to Me now with a heavy heart and your strength spent. I, my friend will move the rock. Your calling was to be obedient and push, and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom, and this you have done.”

Last Week 80 第80周

Hello everyone. I'm thinking of writing this email in Chinese again. Let me know if you like it this way.

Last Monday: We played golf and then visited a shopping mall. In the evening, we had a lesson with Zane. He was awesome. Then we went on a road trip to meet new friends.

Tuesday: We had a district conference. It was a great experience. Afterward, a member invited us to visit the fifth graders at her school. They asked us questions about missionary life, which was wonderful. The Taiwanese children were so cute. Then we had dinner. After dinner, we met new friends. Then there was a class in the evening.

Wednesday: We had dinner with a friend. Then we did some study and made new friends. It was a wonderful time. In the evening, we taught an English group. After our English group, we took a class with a wonderful friend named Monroe. He's very interested and hungry for the gospel.

Thursday: I have a lot of classes. So I teach in the evening. Our friends are all great.

Friday: We had an exchange trip. We all went to Xinzhuang. I exchanged with a friend I met on my mission. He's so funny, his name is Elder Buer. It was a wonderful day! We met a lot of new friends and ate at Costco. It was delicious! I really enjoyed the experience!

Saturday: It was a wonderful day. We returned to Xindian from Xinzhuang. We met new friends that day. Then we had class with our friend Alfred. We shared Alma 32, which talks about faith being like a seed. After class, we went to the home of a member, Sister Yang, for dinner. It was delicious! We also invited our new members to come. After dinner, we went to church for class, and then that evening we called our friends to make sure they were attending church.

Sunday: It was a good day. I loved going to church! I also loved when our friends came over. After church, a member invited us to his house for dinner. We had dumplings! They were delicious. Then we did study, planning, and some meetings. That was about it. Sundays are usually busy.

Today: We're having dinner with a wonderful member. Then he'll take us to a reservoir. I'm so excited; it's supposed to be beautiful! I'm really looking forward to it. But it's been raining all week. It's still raining today, so hopefully it won't ruin the view.

第 79 周

This week has been great. I decided to write my emails in Chinese. This week I have been working hard with my new partner. It’s also a fun week.

Last Monday we went to Wulai Waterfall and walked a long way, maybe more than ten kilometers haha. We also took a small train. very nice. In the evening we contacted friends and went looking for seekers. I found Steve and he was great.

On Tuesday we have district meetings and get to know members of our new district. I am a district leader and then everyone except me and my companion is a sister haha, it's like I'm a Relief Society president. We did a lot of searching anyway. I'm doing fine
In the evening we took a new member to Dancheng's activities. It is a postgraduate course. Not bad. I'm glad to be able to attend together. Then I also saw some of my friends from my previous place, especially some members from Xizhi so I felt very happy!

On Wednesday, we have a lot of classes that day, about five. They are all doing great! Do some searching too. In the evening we have an English group. I taught an intermediate class. They are all great! English group followed by a great friend with lessons. We teach the restored gospel! great

On Thursday, we did a lot of searching and had two classes! All good and the best part was we had the all-you-can-eat BBQ with a member. They do take a large hunk of beef and cut it into a steak. Super delicious! I recommend you to give it a try if you come to Taiwan!

Friday, some classes, searching, the usual stuff. I had a meeting and then we had dinner with our new members in the evening! That restaurant has all-you-can-eat milk ice cream, it’s delicious!

On Saturday, we searched for more than five hours. Couldn't find anyone. Even though the search was tough we still had a lot of fun and joy, so it doesn’t matter! We contacted friends in the evening and invited them to the party!

On Sunday, many friends said they could come but in the morning they said they couldn't. But it doesn’t matter, we had a great party and some friends still came! Because we are responsible for two wards, we attend two church meetings. We do a lot of planning and studying and then searching. The searches today and Saturday were both okay haha. But we are still working hard!

Today we went to play golf, then went to a shopping mall and played a racing game.

I love you guys so much, and finally,

I want to share the scriptures I read recently.

Alma 38:8–9
And it came to pass that I was in great anguish and sorrow of soul for three days and three nights, until, after I cried unto the Lord Jesus Christ for mercy, I received a remission of my sins. But behold, I cried unto Him, and peace was found unto my soul. 9 My son, I tell you this so that you may learn wisdom and learn from me, that you know that there is no way or means for a man to be saved except in and through Christ. Behold, He is the light and life of the world, behold, He is the word of truth and justice.

I want to share because our souls can find peace in Christ. I also like this part where he says, knowing that there is no way or means of salvation except by and through Christ. I know that every good thing comes from Christ.

Love you,
Elder Yu
