WEEK 35

what's up my homies. This week has been pretty cool. Seen some miracles

Last Monday we ate Costco I bought a Lego and we played some baseball.

We had a lot of the normal stuff this week finding and some lessons and stuff.

Saturday morning we went to the the college near us and played basketball with a friend after that we went to a cookies activity for the Relief Society. We went because we had a family of 4 with two daughters and two other investigators come. So we had to go. It went really well and they all seemed to like it and we had a fun time there. They had a safety part about drowning. Apparently in Taiwan a lot of the people can't swim.
That night we went to a members home and ate dinner. It was fire. We had a returned missionary that also came. Right now he is doing is military service. It was fun to be there.

Sunday we also really awesome because we had two people come to church. One of them was really awesome. We called her one day from the list of formers. And then sent her some messages. This was all perfectly planned by God. Idk how it happened but she shared how we called at the right time and texted at the right time all leading up to her coming to church. She said it was the closest she has felt to God and it was all really sweet. The member's also cared for her a lot. She shared this with us and it was really cool.

That was a testimony builder. God truly is helping everyone where they are. He is mindful of us and knows what we need and what our challenges is. It's reminds me of Doctrine and Covenants 122:7 when joseph smith was in liberty it says "know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good." I'm grateful for this experience and hope to remember it.

Anyways Sunday we had a member meal which was fun they had a cute cat too. After we went find in some random place finding where the aboriginal people live. Earlier that day we had a weird guy following us that I've met before. Then at the random place where the aboriginal people live he appeared. He is harmless but we didn't want him to follow us to our home so we took the long route home. It was pretty lit lol.

Today for p-day we decided to go bowling with some elders so that is really fun. I'm getting better at bowling. But i still suck haha.

That was this week and it was pretty lit.
I love you guys and am thankful for all the prayers.  The mission has changed me a lot and I've seen a lot of growth. Definitely worth it even though it's hard and sucks sometimes.

Love you all ❤️

WEEK 34 🌅🌾🌴🏹

 Another week down.

Monday we went on a sick hike which was fun. I will put some picture in the email

We had zone conference this week. It was pretty fun. We ate soft tacos. They were not great not terrible but since there aren't tacos in Taiwan really it was so much more delicious. It was so good.

From Thursday to Friday we had exchanges. I left the area and went with one of the zone leaders. Because it's just us and the zone leaders in your district.
Anyways it was a fun exchange. We saw many miracles. It was fun. We went to Costco and ran into some members so they bought us food. Which is so nice of them. It is a couple with a cute little boy. So that was also a nice surprise. It always makes its more fun when you switch it up a bit. And when you are in a different area and person it's always a good experience.

Friday night we went to the field and basketball courts at the college near us. We played with one of our friends/investigators. We won all but one game which was crazy. I don play basketball a lot. I don't know what I'm doing haha.

On Saturday we put a person on baptismal date in the first contact on the street. So that was pretty cool. I asked him while we were on the road. We stopped and taught him. He seems to be interested and wants to learn more.
We then went door knocking with a member.

Sunday wasn't crazy. But there was another earthquake which we felt a tinny bit. In Hualien a 5.2 hit of the coast. Earlier this month as you guys may know is a 7.2 hit in the same spot.
It's all pretty crazy.
We also watched the Saturday afternoon session of general conference. We still haven't finished watching general conference.

I gave a talk in church about loving people no matter who they are and about the 2 great commandments found in the New Testament, Matthew 22:36–39

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself

I know these two commandments are most important. Loving God and loving others.
It doesn't just say love others. It says love others as thyself.

Make sure you love yourself. And if you don't?
Know Heavenly Father and Jesus Love you perfectly.
I know this is true.

WEEK 33--jiufen九份 and shifen十分

Last monday we went to jiufen九份 and shifen十分 with a member. It was really fun. This member is super cool. It was fun even though I've already been before. The movie Spirited away is inspired from jiufen. It's a really cool area in the mountains. The day we went was cloudy and it was really cool.

I mostly wrote what happens in my journal then forget what happened.

Saturday was general conference. We didn't get to watch the Saturday sessions because we had zone council. It was great to see everyone. After we had hot pot and it was yum yum.

Sunday we watched general conference with the ward at the church. We ate lunch together then watched the last session.
For dinner we ate some chicken thighs from Costco that a member gave us. He gave us some muffins and other stuff. Super nice. We thanked him and he said this. 你們真的是神的使者,我分享經文給你們. Which means you guys are truly God's messengers. And he shared a scripture in alma 8:18-22. Which talks about Amulek when he receives Alma into his home and feeds him. It was really sweet.

That night we went to the temple in Taipei for a concert In the chapel. We listened to other missionaries sing and it was really good. I loved it so much and they did really good.

Today we are going hiking near jiufen九份. It should be really fun. We ate already up here while I'm writing this. It is really pretty up here. Taiwan is such a beautiful country. I'm so lucky to come here and serve the people here. Truly is stunning. The photos I send cannot capture it.

My favorite thing about general conference is how they talked about Temples and priesthood keys. It's so important. And it was awesome to see a focus on this. All the talks were so good.

I love you all hope you have a good week!

WEEK 32

Last Monday I hit 7 months on island. Yes its crazy haha. Also I got a new companion Elder Hong. He is a native and speaks little to no English. Now I have to try to keep up with natives speaking haha. But my Chinese should improve. He is a super funny guy.

I wouldn't say too much happened this week. It's kind of like the same every week haha. But there are some miracle and cool things that happened.

Actually there was something crazy. We had an earthquake hit off the coast of Taiwan. This earthquake was a 7.2 on the Richter scale. Pretty crazy. Where I'm serving it was felt as 4.0. And it was still crazy. Our apartment just started shaking randomly out of nowhere. I was really confused because I've never felt one before. I didn't know what was happening haha. In Hualien it was pretty serious. All the missionaries are safe. But it was devastating for some people.

For the cool moments/miracles.
We had this random homie pull to the church. Apparently he served a mission in Taiwan and stuff. He had a crew with him video taping him.
He is a member of a band that sing in Chinese I assume. Called 烈鷹 lieying which means fierce eagle. That was pretty cool.

Then another day when we went finding we walked up to this white dude. Turns out he is a member and he came to Taiwan on his mission. Also his daughter and son in law. It was cool to see their family. It was truly a miracle because that day I wasn't feeling the best. That was cool though.

I know that God is looking out for all his children. He knows what we are going through and what our challenges is.
I know the Jesus is our Savior and because of him death has no sting.

I love you all,
Elder Clegg

WEEK 31

This week has been pretty lit.

Last Monday w
e went down south did a hike and had fish eat our toes. That was lit.
Tuesday was some lessons

Wednesday ate dinner with a member. Had a lesson and English group

Thursday we helped on of the new members move. They are inactive. They don't have the best living. circumstances. But she has a rabbit. So cute. See the rabbit reminded me of Ronnie. I miss cute little Ronnie.

Friday we started another exchange. This time I stayed in my area with Elder Cox. We had a fun time together. He is super chill and it was lit to be with him.
We rode up a mountain to a lesson. We had a member attend the lesson and after we ate dinner together. It was good. We then rode our bikes down the hill which was fun. We ate this snack with a different member. It's called 豆花. Jellied tofu. And they put like peanuts and some kind of Boba thing. It's pretty good. I'll have to take a picture next time.

We had a good talk at night. Because we both like to play videogames and camping and stuff. It was refreshing. He's super awesome.

Saturday we ended the exchange. Went door knocking with two members in the evening. After we had 豆花 again with another member haha. It was all fun.

Sunday was good. It was Easter and Elder Olsen is leaving the area. So we took pictures with some members. We also had a couple and another guy come who are friends. So that was good.

Monday we are going to Taipei. I'm getting a new companion! He is a native. So my Chinese will probably improve a lot. I'm excited and also nervous because idk what it will be like.
I've heard he is funny. And cool. Should be lit.

I'm grateful to be out here. Even though a lot of the time it sucks and we don't see a ton of success. Only small successes.

Alma says it best “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass” (Alma 37:6).

I love you all and hope everyone's doing good! Happy Easter! 復活節快樂!

Love,
Elder Clegg
